春天來了

新年快樂，春天來了！
最怕是毛毛雨的日子，因為我有潔癖，好怕洗手間／廚房發霉。因為好核突，同清理好麻煩呢！
話說我倆兩年前裝修，我就十分愛惜家裡的一磚一瓦，不過發霉的事都有。預防勝於治療，所以初四的我都是繼續我的rountine, 吸塵洗浴室。

為了方便家務，我都有小心得。

1）盡量保持浴室乾爽，浴後必拉開浴廉（不摺疊著）；開抽氣扇
2）戴上微濕膠手套去抹地！是的不用布，是手套，因靜電的關係，地上，地氈上的毛髮和塵都會吸在手上。
3）一星期至少一次吸塵，之後可用紙拖把
4）用吸塵機附的擦子吸傢俬，梳化，窗廉等（當然要事後洗乾淨擦子）
5）廚房煮食完必掃地

我有一樣好proud的工具，就是無印的N合一拖把。

Muiji的兼用式拖把是可收起的成少於一尺長，即是你不用display你的地拖們在廚房／洗手間 etc, 拖把的頭可換成紙拖把，抹布，擦，海棉同毛毛頭。又可以360度轉，即是你可以轉成紙拖把去抹牆上的灰塵，又可以換成擦去洗浴室地，再轉成抹布拖地～

地方小，見到別人家的吊著大大小小的掃把，地拖，我就知道＄400買個地拖是不貴的。（當然老公俾錢時有嚇親！）

Nachos 的秘密？

一個月前與Mr. Jujube 去Outback晚飯，點了最愛的Nachos，侍應反問：「咩黎？」原來已在餐牌取消了。
回家之後不久，Mr. 念念不忘，我就做一個home made 方便版。

牛油果因氧化的關系會變黑，如何做到”嫩綠“的牛油果醬？
就是把其核放回醬中，再加點青檸汁和一點點sour cream，就又靚又好吃！
沒有焗爐，只有將粟米片和刨碎的cheddar cheese在耐熱的大pan烤，找出M﹠S的salsa 醬，攪拈！

相片因太肚餓，影得不太好。

今年聖誕好有氣氛，因為實在太凍了！

平安夜鮮有的未有與Mr. Jujube共渡，因去了中學好友的婚禮！時間過得太快，轉眼已畢業N年，中學同學再聚，份外親切。聖誕日早上特意攪點新意， Egg Benedict，這是與Mr. Jujube Bristol 開會在酒店吃過之後超想吃，而香港又未見做得好的。

最重要是蛋！

因為要半生熟，我買了馬來西亞的消毒過的靚靚蛋～
要整poached egg，可於水加入少許白醋和鹽，蛋白會凝固得快一點，出來的效果會圓圓的，滑滑的。

聖誕日沒有出街人迫人，只是兩口子在家，Mr. Jujube工作，我煎扒，呷呷白酒，溫溫馨馨就過了。

11月一瞬間就過去了，原來我足足病了一個月；身體健康好重要。

11月25日是 Mr. Jujube 的生日，我做了一個 Lemon Cheese Cake給他。原來現在超級市場沒有賣 President 的 double ream 了，只有 whipping cream, 味道是淡了一點，很懷念英國超濃口的 double cream。

生日一年一次，肥都不怕！現在街買的蛋糕都愈來愈淡味，材料愈來愈貴吧。不過這蛋糕用了＄100，在Cova 買個cake 都是＄17Ｘ。（買好過？一定好吃又乾手淨腳）這蛋糕是我改良，少糖，主要食芝士的濃郁奶香及檸檬的清香。

材料
1磚 cream cheese
1／4 杯黃糖
1 茶匙魚膠粉
1個大檸檬
90 ml whipping cream

餅底
3﹣4塊消化餅
無鹽牛油75g

1）消化餅打碎，加入已溶化牛油，用刮刀輕按混合物，鋪好餅底在蛋糕模內，放入雪櫃雪硬
2) cream cheese 在室溫待軟，切方丁方便一會打鬆
3）刨檸檬皮，切碎
4）檸檬榨汁
5）黃糖加少許開水煮溶，加入檸汁，一半檸檬皮，低溫煮開
6）用攪拌機泡打cream cheese 至鬆軟
7）再在另一乾淨大碗將 whipping cream打至 soft peak
8）將魚膠粉加入煮熱的檸檬醬，再續一拌入cream cheese，攪至幼滑
9) 小心將cream cheese拌入 (fold in) 已發好的whipping cream, 此時應續少加入cream cheese，盡量保持蛋糕混合物內的空氣
10）蛋糕混合物倒入已有餅底的蛋糕模，放入雪櫃雪至少2小時，上碟時灑上檸檬皮裝飾

脫模時可用風筒吹熱蛋糕模外圈，使蛋糕容易滑出及更美觀。

Topshop火警。。。要即刻lum 件衫逃生。

可是都要慶幸一切安好。Topshop 的 staff 真的是十分pro 和 well trained. 她們都確保沒有人留在changing room, 續間房檢查；看到我這黃皮膚更用超﹣慢﹣英文， RUN！當然我開口回答後，她們都一輪咀的。可悲是對面的女仕著了hot pants + nude vest （即底衫）要逃。天，外面是high street啊！

看中的last chance to buy, 連官網都沒有了。看來無緣。
原價GBP30，特價GBP18。
下面的是找到唯一可在官網search到，GBP30，無SALE。

中國人的肚子

來了英國，外出吃飯相對少了。在香港我們可以三餐都叫外賣（老公去買外賣回家）。這裡的餐廳除了比較貴，最重要是選擇少，而且不一定好吃。三文治，panini, fish & chips, 食得多都驚；我還怕肥，要知道食完一個一尺長有ham 有cheese有cream 的panini, 很快又會肚餓，變相吃得多了，再加一杯mocha，同食一個McDonald's 一樣肥。

所以我一日可以煮三餐（除了jet lag 第一個星期後，我都食得兩餐，懶床）。我們還買了米，米粉，公條麵之類。因為真的很想吃飯。（我還練曉用鋁煲煮飯呢！）上年在這裡很想家，可能就是沒有煮米飯吧。今年Tesco都可以買到米粉，油麵，連芽菜都有呢。我很師奶的想，GBP1一包麵，50p 一包芽菜，兩人吃，再加少許肉，太抵了。

另外在這裡好是不用洗菜，有時還是切好了呢，一開就可以煮了。回到香港，我又要洗菜。（我在香港菜至少洗三次，因為污土糟又怕有農藥。）

成功 vs 失敗

前天去了pret a mager 偷吃 Tuna Melt Toast, 結果肚子又不舒服，可能是有太多raw wheat了。

回家之後又再焗麵包。

18小時的之後，一成功，一爆開了；失敗原因，不明。

另外昨天去了Festival 到處逛，再吃個tea。Cajun chicken & cheddar cheese panini 好好味，回港就沒有了。要好好計劃小店的秋季，最近老是下雨，我覺得很懶。奇在下雨，我的臉都乾得發紅。

不知怎的，來了英國時常肚子不舒服，慢慢去找出源頭：麵包。在超市，M&S買的都是。於是又再重回焗麵包的日子。要求高了，不是普通成形的easy white loaf就可，要外脆內軟又有嚼頭的，就要再努力多一點點。

買了protein 比例重一點的麵粉，再參考了不同的書籍，決定了試sour dough bread。

第一次，不太成功，故沒有影相；第二次發酵時間太久，水份多了，太脆（脆得會𠝹口）。昨日又再試造，不再盲目跟食譜，成功了。

由捏粉，發酵，烤焗，共18小時。新的體驗。

我沒有買這書，太重，怕回家時行李超重，但是真的很好的一本guide book。網上流行獨角仙的17小時方包的食譜，因英制有少許不同，天氣濕度都會有影響，所以我暫時未試。（有中種，不同的麵粉等，好似有點麻煩）

英國的生活

我很懶，到了英國快一個月了，也沒有update。只怪第二年到Edinburgh，新鮮感都沒有了，最重要是我忙著四處旅遊。老公要工作，一個人四處去有好有不好（遇上奇怪人的機會大增）。

上個月去了London，第一次去時(大學時）很遊客的去London Eye, museums, Oxford Street, Harrods （Harrods 正在裝修呢，亂七八糟的，快快買了手信就沒有再逛）etc。最近幾年都是路過，這次可以好好的慢慢逛。

約了朋友在Embankment 站等，早到了在四周漫步，可以看看河邊，London Eye, Parliament 和 Big Ben, 不用人迫人，遠遠看看風景，走走百年歷史的公國，已很寫意 (請忘了倫敦沉悶的下雨天吧，晴天是bonus) 。

很笨，第一天買了來回的tube ticket, 好貴！之後得Londoner教路其實可以買Oyster Card的，按金可之後取回，不在peak hour travel, 平好多。

做家務是需要無比的耐性，友人說你嫁了日日都可以好free；一時一時吧。當家務是不斷的永無休止的cycle，都有一點「痛苦」。

上星期洗了3次衫，吸好塵，這星期又要重做一次。若偷懶了，遲下要做的更多，所以都是乖乖的做好了。有時候病了，又不是太辛苦，都會爭扎，不想煮飯；不過老公回家買外賣吃時，總會有點內疚（放工回家這樣累，可吃住家飯總是好一點）。

今天洗衣機又玩野，不去水；洗手間地上都是水，要續件衣服用手摟乾、抹地。想打電話叫維修，再試一次又正常。

又是耐性的訓練。

{用了友人的手信﹣新加玻的喇沙醬；醬雖是現成，不過加上其他食材的準備，比煮兩餸一湯麻煩; 但是r吃了一口後，一切都值得。 }

結婚兩年，相片都未沖曬（是的，我倆是少數沒有影pre-wedding,婚禮之後只order了細size 的blurb相簿）；當日已有朋友upload一系列上facebook,又燒了碟給親戚，根本不用去曬相。曬相是個要好大決心的行動，用digital camera影來一大埋又要揀，download ／燒碟，仲要儲一堆去曬，諗到都心煩。

如果有一日沒有facebook，好像從前的webshots / xanga /etc 不再時興，這兩年的時光會消失於世上。

昨日我終於曬好相給媽媽！要給自已一個叻。

另外原來flickr有了新的曬相服務，但之惠及內地。

昨日的晚餐，牛腩是老公的favourite，日本南瓜是給我自己的。咖喱南瓜味道很夾，可再試；試用從Sogo買回來的橫濱咖喱，Orz，加了之後有點油，努力的瓢；加上青瓜沙律，要健康一點。

今日發覺有首飾配件來貨的數目不對，因收貨時是農曆新年，沒有對單；真笨！

上星期的起心肝去K11補新貨：）要趁未病之前... ... 因為我好虛。最近有blog友找我教beading, 是在bridal shower時給新娘子的一個驚喜，好讓婚禮當日姊妹們都有matching accessories. 很細心的。

最快樂都是大家學完都嘆「串珠」不易呢，是的，要時間練習。不過是一種好玩的hobby.

題外話：早上擺好貨和K坐了一會，發現！！！好多小手呀。我未試過這麼緊張，有好多人都疑似的想偷東西（之後知道，被人偷了2條手鏈）；一個人看檔根本應接不了。

K去了洗手間時，有個伯伯在我身後拿起一個羊毛電話扣，因為有膠袋聲我立刻轉身叫「隨便睇」，伯伯就拿著公仔想放入褸袋，果刻．．．佢扮企唔穩望住我！我有點驚訝原來商場都會有賊，原來boutique 的嚴拿高賣牌是有用的。（又或者是心理上有做過野）

我真的見得世面少了。

上次補貨時有客人說我的作品貴，請容我作少許解釋，ju ju be的作品都是手造啊，連耳勾也是；所以大家可以數百的價錢買到14K gold filled的質素。每個耳勾都是我親手搥打、成形、磨光；加上獨特貼耳小巧的設計，聽電話時是不會拮耳，長時間配戴也不覺得重。這些都是我從前戴耳環遇到的小問題，再改進，是mass production找不到的。

新年快樂！

2010年我覺得是多變的一年；我面對了很多決擇同挑戰。勇氣；可能是保守怕死的我最大的新發現。

去英國學金工；未去的時候心大心細，學費生活費不便宜，作為中國人去上堂要去融入其他同學是有一點擔心。好在很快樂！一切都值得。識到外國的hand craft circle，明白他們好有理想，而大家重視大家的art 和 creativity；這方面我要好好學習；對自己和手藝有信心。

慢慢的就沒有再介意「沒有工作」了；因為我知道我在做什麼，我不是電車女，日日上網沒事做；我要maintain 我的小店和做好housewife個role。這對我好重要，這就是的生活的價值。

放下身段的好處是你會破斧尋舟，努力找新的出路；多了新的寄賣，心裡都會好過一點，就是證明自己向前一步。

今日剛好有雜誌訪問出街，也是回顧2010的最好禮物。

I have some new inspiration recently. I am in love with the petite style of Japanese beading. Dangles, dangles and dangles of yummy crystals and gemstones with a natural sea shell. Should I put on my Hong Kong consignment store or Etsy?

I am freezing... 10C is too cold for me. Sitting there and beading without a heater. Taken the photos for my latest batch of creations, with frozen fingers.

Business at local is not doing well recently. I have pressure on changing some of the stocks at HKID gallery. Maybe it is hard to convince shoppers that my creations are 14k gold filled. What should I do?

熱潮已過？

上星期的handmade mart，反應和一年前有很大的分別。香港人都是趕潮流嗎？之前人迫人的情況沒有了，少了來「調查」的人，多了真心支持handmade的人客。生意是回落了，不過我也enjoy和我的handmade 朋友談談天。

和K原來相識了一年，時間真快；多謝Libby的邀請，識了很多handmade的朋友。大家都明白熱潮已過，但是我們依然在這裡，努力中。

今次得傳統媒體的訪問，我會覺得這是好事，不是什麼人在家DIY一些東西就一定賣到，DIY不是用來賺錢的；其實媒體常都渲染DIY創業，有時都有點頭痕；其實當DIY可增加生活的趣味的興趣就好了。

Monday can be energetic, or depressed. Today I fall into the 2nd category. Feeling so tired after breakfast and went to bed straight. I need a quiet break.

Here is something I made for the winter. I named it Cinematic.

I have stolen my husband's old books for some background. Love the printings and texture. He told me that they were from 1920s!

It is so exciting to read a entrepreneur's story. To a little extent, it links back to my memory of the beginning of my jewelry business. There are lots of tedious work but you total enjoy of it.

Another one is a book I snog during sale. Sometimes we have to admit Japanese are good at creating a lovely design spaces.

Today is Nov 4. I woke up heated a bun from Chui Wah for my husband, made a cucumber salad for myself. We sipped tea together on the sofa. It is a good way to start a day. I found my inspiration again.

A slightly belated update :P

I had fun at the Amor Handmade Market. It felt great to meet my crafty friends { 小熊。Hermoso and of course Oli and Karama } while have some sales. Fewer visitors came. Perhaps, there are quite a lot of handmade markets going on elsewhere.

Anyway, I am happy enough. And will keep on going for the next BIG project. :D

I am very happy that I will be joining a craft show on Oct 30, 2010 (Sat) at the lovely Amor Workshop again.

I have been a little tied up with the creative work lately. Promotion seems being neglected. I am finding a new way to express my experience from Edinburgh, both emotionally and technically.

I am striking for a WOW. My husband and friends have been very nice to re-affirmed me that my original works are good enough.

I am an awkward girl. I do not liaise with others. I do not join the art scene. I just stay at home and wait for the muse. My mind just crumbled. I need a NEW me. And hopefully you will see a new jujube. Thus a deadline is needed. Thank god.

Btw, shop will be re-launch followed by the market on Nov 1.

I noticed there are more and more ladies having Cath Kidston's handbags once I returned from UK. The fun part is I never saw them at the UK Cath Kidston's stores. A few days ago I realized those bags are free gifts from the Japanese magazines. HKD$90 a magazine to go with a bag. A great deal.

我回來了。和愛丁堡比較香港真的很潮濕。悶熱。不過我還是十分興奮。無論在那邊的食物是多好味，handmade的小店是多可愛，這裡還是我的家。在英國生活的點滴都會是我和C的重要回憶。我們兩人，沒有親戚朋友，什麼都沒有；我每天焗面包, 煮飯，打理我們的小小的apartment，自己一個人去Tesco買東西，去找好味的Chai Tea，這些我都要記住。不要被香港生活迫人的急速影響。

話說我們不在時家裡大裝修，回來時周圍都是泥土色的塵，又抺又掃，花了我一星期我才敢unpack 將東西放回原處，還未可開始正常的生活。今天有點累，想懶一下，不過看到這圖片，又想起home maker 的樂趣。我要對生活有要求。

I am back. Back to the reality of hot humid but sweet home land, Hong Kong. It was a rewarding trip and experience for both me and C. I am so proud of myself to live in a foreign country for some time. We were not tourist. We had no relatives and friends. We just lived there. On my own, I run my little home with my husband. I baked, cooked, shopped and cleaned our little nest. That will be some valuable memory.

Despite of the extremely delayed flight, I have been fighting to have my home re-organized after the renovation. It is hard not to keep my hands off from tidying, wiping and dusting. Our washroom, kitchen and the floor are all covered with yellowish dust.

I am a bit deflated today. The weather is too hot. My hands are too itchy. But once I saw this photo, I reminded myself, I am a home maker. There is always some joy of "looking after" your home.

My school life

I have completed my jewelry craftsmanship course which

was rewarding. I am so proud of myself. I am now able

to know more about the fundamental knowledge of being

a jeweler. (A real one, not those assembly findings from

Shamshuipo bead stores) I do wish I can make it further

back to Hong Kong.

I did not take a lot of photos in the studio as I was too

concentrate to work and learn. Also, it was quite dusty

and full of chemicals. I did not want to put my camera

in danger.

Below is my jewelry bench during lesson.

My first piece of copper sawing, a seagull, which I can see

every day on the way to school. The seagull here in

Edinburgh do not afraid of people. I am afraid of them...

Victoria Charm

Victoria charm has returned. Some may think it is granny-like, but I do like it. I caught a bad flu here in Edinburgh which developed to a serious one. My hubby has done well to take care of me. He cooks 3 hot meals every day! (Well done)

An old fashion cup of tea does smooth me. 3 weeks more and I shall return to my home.

There are a number of indie shops found in Edinburgh. I am surprised that how lovely and keening for both the shop keepers and the shoppers. There is only appreciation found in the shop. (No picking, bargaining or copying here, unlike Hong Kong)

And I am tempted to buy one, however, I have to consider my limited luggage space for my return flight to Hong Kong. It is great that the Red Door Gallery operates an online store as well.

I have been Edinburgh for more than a month now. A lot of new and exciting things happened. I am more adapted to a Scottish style of living. It is weird that the older you are, the more time you would like to fall back to your old habit.

Both me and C were desperately wanted a bowl of hot chili noodles on the first fortnight. We are better. Not because we finally embraced the Scottish diet, we found a Chinese shop nearby :P

出前一丁 has become the most nostalgic thing after all. Despite of other Chinese grave, this is a cheaper and more accessible one. Lucky us.

We went to the Farmer's Market this weekend and bought some gorgeous raspberry. So I have made a traditional British dessert, Eton Mess.

When you are abroad, you discovered your real identity. I discovered my crave of hot food, spices and chili.

My daily life is relaxing. Wake up, make breakfast for C and myself, have a cup of tea (I am a tea drinker before coming to UK), online for while, grocery shopping, prepare dinner.

We do wonder around at weekends to discover some interesting shops nearby. Here is one of them at the Victoria Street, Edinburgh.

DemiJohn - a liquid deli

A charming shop which specializes wine, vinegar, and oil. They sourced their own brewers and farm houses for some unique products. (As long as we did not see these at Tesco and Sainsbury's) It is lovely to have your liqueur /whiskey / oliver oil / vinegar to be bottled. They have all kinds of tasteful and vintage inspired bottles for you to choose. I do like the idea that we can taste their products before purchased. And we can only buy 100ml for a trial. You can also bring back the glass bottles for next purchase for a re-fill.

We have bought a stackable bottles for oil and vinegar. They are cute to be at my kitchen and convenient as a decoration for a special dinner as well. We bought the elderflower vodka and some raspberry vinegar.

I have tagged along my husband during his visit at Edinburgh for business. Time here in UK is slightly slower than Hong Kong. I am glad to enjoy the life of traditional fun like baking. Baking materials here are more accessible than Hong Kong.

I've tried to make some lemon cup cakes the other day. It turns out fab! I had only one lemon on hand, so I replaced some orange zest for extra aroma. I've followed the recipe from Martha Stewart's Though my cakes looked like naked :P as I prefer no icing for healthier diet.

FYI, I do not have a TV at Edinburgh. And both me and husband share only one line of broadband. Such that a total new living style is required.

I have seen lots of BBC TV programs online and I love this.

I have been away from the blog world for some time as I've moved to Edinburgh for this summer. It is such a pretty city. I am here with my hubby. Such that I do need some "projects" to be done cheap and at home.

First I have attempted to bake! Yes, a cooking which needs accuracy and measurement. (which I do not have ) And I have bought a glossy magazine, Glamour, to kill time. This issue a Benefit Bad Gal eye liner is included. GBP2 for such, a hot deal!!!

I have followed Rachel Allen's recipe which is super easy and tasty! (I do accomplish it without an electric mixer!)

Forgive me, I have a complaint!

Why we are so obsessed with paying to have "lessons". We do not pay for creative goods but pay to learn other's creativity. We tend to buy other's creativity if so we are then creative.

There are tons of people asking if I would like to PAY

learn how to take better photos for my handmade products.

learn how to make scrapbooks / jewelry / wool felt / pottery / metal smith / glass fusing etc.

rent a place to have handmade market in the whatever weekends.

rent a cubical to sell my handmade products.

but there is no one would like to buy handmade products. At least, I did not encounter any one yet. (I have to put a "yet" to be optimistic.)

I hope those short term businessmen would be fade away after the summer vacation.

By the way, I am not having classes to teach wire wrapping skills. If you would like to learn, you can search via the Internet. There are tons of free tutorial / sharing / magazines. Make effort, be inspired!

More vege, less carbs

I recently felt exhausted and depressed very often. (Or most of my life :P) Previously doctor has advised me to intake more food in all terms and sodium. I am a lazy cook such that I had have lots of fast food meals to fulfill doctor's wish. Hamburgers got lots of sodium!

Things are better. I feel less dizzy. But there is another problem, I am puffy and lack of energy. So I change my diet again... a revolutionary one. I try my best to prepare my meal every day. It is a challenge when you are alone at home. Meals are not the top priority. Preparing a one-person portion takes lots of work.

For my health sake, I am doing it, hopefully, for long term. I will be a housewife (maybe) the rest of my life, I cannot have fast food forever.

Buying food is so much easier. (That is why you have to pay more!) You can just eat and then do other things. I discover I have been cooking and washing the whole day as following,

Breakfast / Lunch

Fried egg and toast, a cup of tea - 10 mins

Eat - 10 mins

Washing dishes - 10 mins

Snack

Cut an orange - 3 mins

Eat it - 4 mins

Wash again - 5 mins

Dinner

Prepare and roasted turkey - 45mins

Prepare salad, cut tomato / onion and smash avocado - 20 mins

Serve and eat - 30mins

Wash again!!!! - 25mins

Very often, I think I am not that full after the dishing...

This is the second day I am at home alone. It is weird that once you are married, you life is always a double. The sudden home alone nights seem nice. I do not have to plan for meals and do less clean-ups.

This made me cannot stop thinking what if I am home alone at Edinburgh. I have been living at the city for my entire life. There were supermarkets and restaurants just downstairs my home. So I come up an idea that to plan a To do list.

1) Try polymer clay

I do not have an oven here. But I know I will have one at my scottish apartment. It is a great chance for my to experiment with a new media for my jewelry design.

2) Baking

The same reason. In addition, I have so much free time to try new recipes. I am thinking soda bread, cup cakes, roasted chicken etc.

3) Making jewelry

I opt to maintain my Etsy store operation. Such that I will pack all my heavy tools and beads to flight. It is great for Hong Kong customers, I shall purchase more vintage beads and charms. Come on, there will be a lower shipping costs!!!

4) Visit the Scottish handmade market - Morningside Maker Markets . Actually they are so kind to invite me to join. However, due to visa problem, I will not be an exhibitor. I do not want to be an illegal worker.

5) Nothing yet, any suggestion to do at home?

Finally there is sunshine in my house. I have been waiting for it so long. It is super hard to capture a beautiful image of my Rose Water necklace. I love this a lot and I have one I wear a lot. The necklace was shot more than several times which the softness and loveliness of the blushing pink rose quartz drop is so hard to capture.

Not sure if you are bored with the same style of photos yet. It was our dinner last night. Yes salad again with home made dressing. The Pizza Express balsamic vinegar dressing seems not too match with the roman cabbage. To make the meal filling, I've added some smoked salmon.

Here is a how-to for the home made Italian salad dressing.

lime juice (freshly squeezed from a lime), 1 clove of garlic, 2 table spoons of cherry tomato juice (gained from the cheery tomato), a dash of mixed herb, oliver oil, salt and pepper

I have soaked the sliced onion into the dressing before we went jogging. 30 minutes of jogging, back home take a shower, shake well and enjoy!

Salad for dinner

I decided to lead a healthier diet. That is more fresh vege and good quality of protein. It is not easy to sustain as it costs time and effort. Last Sunday, we had salad for dinner.

I have prepared the turkey breast on the Saturday night. The turkey was bought from a wholesaler which located nearby our home. I just requested the giant turkey to be cut into 3 portion. Turkey is a good source of protein.

I have marinated the de-frozened bird with rosemary, mixed italian herbs, a clove of garlic and dash of oliver oil for 20 minutes. Then I sealed the bird in high heat and then slow cooked for 40 minutes. Slice them once they are cool down.

The best part, I can store the bird in the freezer and served as ham for sandwiches, salad, and snack. Though... C ate them all quickly :)

We have decided to include a mini romantic break during our time at Edinburgh. Yes, to Paris. I have been there once with my friend as a backpacker. It was a quick and kinda rush trip so I think we need more planning this time.

Besides the museums, I am looking for walks at the Parisian market (Place de la Madeleine!?), vintage goodies and explore more with the local cafes and bistrots.

I have been reading this from Oh Happy Day! for some ideas. But I am still looking for more. C has bought the book Eyewitness Travel Paris which is sort of complicated for me to read... (I have no sense of direction and the book is wrote based on map zones!)

Walking to no man land

First it started as a hobby... then comes the rocky road.

I have been reading lots of self-employed stories recently. Mostly motivated by this lovely book, Escape from cubicle nation

I thought I was so lonely and kinda silly to realize my dream. It was like walking into the no man land. I do things alone most of the time. I email / blog / source materials / design alone. I make jewelry alone (to compensate, I turn on Discovery channels to make sounds.) Everyone is saying you are so blissful to be a housewife and make jewelry to sell (To sell does not mean sellable!?). I can only swallow my bitter. It takes lots of work to get one sale!!! Moreover, I worried a lot and here are some of them.

1) I do not return to be the corporate world, I will be jobless forever.

2) I will be regretted when I am 40s.

3) I feel lack of confidence / self esteem in front of my umates / ex colleagues / friends who have their gold plated job titles and lavish lifestyle.

4) Money... though I will not starved to death, I miss my fancy shoes and dresses sometimes.

To feel much better, I search for other man in the world.

And it is almost 4pm. I am just in time to sit and have a cup of tea. And I am ready to prepare tonight's dinner very soon. The beef has been taken out from the freezer before I went out.

Sometimes I spend the whole day doing housework. Sometimes I just make jewelry until my hubby finished work and head out for dinner.

Out apartment in Edinburgh is confirmed yesterday. I can undertake more preparation work e.g. planning trips (Paris is a must, and maybe some lovely Scottish villages!? Any suggestions?). I have discovered this website for packing. It is so useful that the list is customized which I found out I may need to bring some rubbish bags and laundry detergent (!!!!) for my upcoming trips.

After a brief talk with my lovely client, I was told something drippy and long for her colleague. First I made this 14k gold filled, hand hammered and sanded earrings with lavender blue Swarovski crystals.

And then my client told me her friend may prefer something cool and less pastel / girly. Such that I have altered those beads in dark peacock blue sparkles. Bolder and more rock and roll :P

Yes, I have highly glory goals. ha ha

For No. 3, it is also an ethical question. People often view handmade goods are slightly over priced. Let's turn the table. Beading takes time and effort. It requires detailed work of skillful hands and creative mind. Generally, there are 2-3 pieces of trails before I made the perfect one. I have hided so many experimental pieces under my jewelry desk. If I spent the time on handmade by working at McDonald's, I would earn more. How pathetic it is.

Sometimes I feel lack of energy (or most of the time in the morning!?) Sunshine came to my home yesterday! I quickly set up my camera for some photo shoots.

I am a vintage fan at the moment. I love trying out new sets for my jewelry shoots. Sales are slow these days. I just try to convince myself as it is the slack season. And this is a good opportunity for me to think and create more!

I have mailed an important letter this morning! I am going to attend a craftsmanship course at the Edinburgh College of Art. It costs quite a lot. But I have to thank all my customers, who have contributed to portion of my hugh tuition fee. My hubby has generously offered to pay. However, I am guilty to have him to pay for my "hobby". Reality is handmade jewelry will not be a job to feed. And I don't want my hobby and dream affects our household expenses and other future plans.

Nevertheless, I am still very excited! I will be having classes with other artists in Edinburgh. I will be lots of talented people.

I have named this new handcrafted headpiece, Peony!

I am learning to make millinery flowers for some time. And this is definitely fun!

Peony is unique which cannot compare with the ordinary silk flowers that you find in decoration stores. It features with super delicate and soft touch of colors petals in a very structured combination. The petals are dyed, hand cut and streamed by me. I love the texture of it.

I have to say it was the toughest market for me as I was sick. My throat was so sore but I still kept on telling people about my handmade life, my jewelry and my book. I am surprised that there were some male visitors bought my creations. Perhaps, it is for his loved one during St. Valentine's Day!? I have asked if it was alright to put a handmade heart-shape tag on the gift wrap. He replied me with a shy smile. Ha ha how sweet was that.

I am grateful that I have found my passion.

A little complain...

Yet, I came across ladies who asked me suspicious questions and taking close up photos of my creations. I am a bit annoyed about it since there were people imitating my designs and sold online with a relatively cheap price at Yahoo auction...

I am so frustrated about it the other day. I comforted myself that as my designs are so great to attract "admirers". However, my heart hurts while seeing people using copper wire "pretends" silver / gold filled wire. What I can say?

Promo Packs for Handmade Mart

I have made this promo pack for the coming craft fair, Handmade Mart. I thought it will be fun to receive a little gift rather than a leaflet. And my friends are impressed.

Inside the pack are
manila tags, stickers which are hand stamped and made with re-purposed paper, ju ju be business card and of course the leaflet.

I will be a Culture Club, Soho Feb 6 (Sat), 2pm - 6pm. I was told the venue is easy to be by-passed. So make sure you read the map at my facebook.

P.S. For those lovely brides-to-be who would like to have a headpiece custom orders, you are welcome to step by. Just ask at the booth :)

Cloudy Sunday!

It is a cloudy Sunday. As usual, I woke up way too late... (too shame to name the time), had an afternoon tea with C, walked around at the neighborhood, stopped by the florist, had a iced Mocha at Starbucks, read some magazines and headed back home.

And noticed I gained a pound... (shit!) Let's blame the cloudy and humid weather.

Crafty Hearts

I am preparing for the upcoming craft fair. As it is a Valentine's Day Market, I plan to have some little hearts as embellishment. It is so fun to make it with Hearty Clay and have these little crafty hearts.

It can be a charm on the gift, a bookmark, or even a tiny card. I did not make a lot of it. I still have to cut out all those earrings cards and sort out the packaging matter.

I am pleased to receive this glossy square shape magazine to kick off my handmade life in 2010.

I am on Bead Trends Dec 2009!!!

I have been looking for the book in Hong Kong since Christmas. Obviously, Page One no longer sells this. But the Bead Trends are still available in ALL major magazine and book stores in UK and US.

It takes like a year to produce just a little piece of beading instructions, to contact the editor, emailing back and fro, couriering creations, taking photos etc. But I am happy with the result. Having Chinese as my mother tongue, I think I did pretty good as a contributor. :P

Yummy Scones

I've watched Martha Stewart's Today Show and tempted to make some scones! My hands were inched and quickly made some for my tea and C's breakfast tomorrow. Of course, jam making is a must to go with these freshly "baked" scones!

Yes, it is specially "baked" since I do not have an oven at home. I simply put some foil on my non-sticky heavy duty pan with saucepan and "bake" it! The result?! Fab*

1) Chinese Knots for Beaded Jewellery It is so hard to have the strings go the the desired position. But I am having fun. Westerners are more fascinated by the art of Chinese knots.

2) Martha Stewart's Housekeeping Handbook

I am not that traditional to be a perfect housewife or putting myself in a socially fitted gender role. I just love reading the smart tips in the handbook. After all, I want to spend least time to kill housework and more time for my jewellery.

I wish I could have some input to 2010! And I guess the first book did influence me to make "O".
