Cake Mania

I have a sweet tooth. And amazed by the lovely, yummy photos of desserts! Recently, I watch Bake! by Rachel Allen every Friday. It is the perfect dessert for end of the week! And it is 0 calorie to watch :)
I plan to make the white soda bread for C's breakfast! It is not that hard, I guess. (But I have to buy a new oven before hand.)
This beautiful goat cheese and berries tart is from Tartelette by Helen. Her photos and recipes are awesome!

I bought a chocolate "swiss roll" from Mark & Spencer yesterday. It is unexpectedly heavenly tasty! I regret that I did not buy the lemon one (which was snaged by my mom!) And it costs only $38 for a roll!

Packing for a trip to UK

I will be travelling with C to UK in next month. I am so excited about it as he is on business but not me. My "job" is just enjoy my time. Packing is a bit tricky as the weather varies in Hong Kong and UK. I have to pack both summer and fall outfits!
Must bring items for long flight

1) Sleeping eye mask - I cannot sleep with lights.
2) Leneige moisture mask - I use it as mask and lotion at the same time. Cheap stuff, and you won't be upset if you spill it or miss it.
3) Hair pins - for a messy hair quick fix.
4) Scarf - keep me warm on flight.
5) Benetint - for a fast blush upon arrival.
Outfits
Day: Black sweater + vests + blue jeans-like tights + flat shoes / slippers
Night: Nice blue dress + black tights + killer boots + bracelet
I love the tights from H&M, cheap, light, easy to dry (you never know while travel)! Just HK$199!

Cool udon noodles

The weather is so hot and humid! It rained cats and dogs at 4pm while I was heading to supermarket... I ducked home immediately but my legs are wet.

I managed to scrabble the fridge with this Cool Udon Noodles served with cucumber, egg and crab meat. It takes me only 15 minutes to finish this. (another 20 minutes for the noodles and side dish to cool down a bit. )

Of course, the most essential is the instant cold sauce to go with the udon!

New Idea for Backdrops

It has been the season of planning weddings! I was told there will be at least 3 of my lucky friends will tie the knot at the year end! Reflecting my wedding decoration process, backdrop has been a HUGH issue. I would want to be unique yet economically affordable... :)
This is an example from Design Sponge for an affordable yet stunning backdrop!
How to achieve without a wedding decor:
Snag lots of 1" wide ribbons and ask a sewing lady to have them trimmed on a thick fishing wire / similar ribbon. Leaving an extra 1"-2" length for curly ends. Lightly run across the ribbon ends to a lit candle to get rid of lint if necessary.

Couch Potato

I love to watch TV... Can I say watching TV can be my hobby? Hah... Recently I enjoy the BBC Drama, Cranford. I love the detailed work of BBC dramas which brought me a very British experience!

I love men sent flowers to ladies for expression of love (or a mild rejection). And it is very funny that ladies have a dictionary of language of flowers to check up the gentlemen "message" to her. How romantic it is!

I have checked up my wedding bouquet. Peonies can mean Happy Marriage. Seems a good sign :)

Love all those stuff in Victorian time, floral prints, laces, hats, jewellery etc. While materials are rare, owning some is a luxury! And people treasure it.

Homemade Jam

C loves to have jam and butter sandwiches every morning. Recently, we ran out of jam. Instead of buying a new jar, I handmade some strawberry jam for him.

It is not that hard. Just slow cooking the fresh fruit pulp with equal portion of sugar and do not stir it too much at the meantime. I have bought some lovely jam jar from $10 store and potted the jam. A pack of strawberry makes 2 yummy jars of these.
